Tables not tagged properly (Word 2016 and older)

Modified on Mon, 5 Oct at 1:53 PM

In Office 2016 as well as older versions, it has been noted that tables in Word are not properly tagged when saved as pdf. Accessibility Assistant therefore cannot adjust the PDF tag-tree to text only (<p> tags instead of <table> tags) in the exported PDF, as intended.

Tables used for layout purposes, such as one-celled tables and tables marked as layout tables via Accessibility Assistant, must be configured with a Header Row to create the intended output in the exported PDF.

The Header Row option can be found in the Table Design ribbon (when standing in a table).
