Overview
The "Extract Comments to Document" feature allows you to extract all comments from an active Word document and save them into a new Word document in a table format. This is useful for reviewing or sharing comments separately from the main document.
Steps
- Open the Word document that contains the comments you want to extract.
- Trigger the "Extract Comments to Document" functionality using the application's command system or integrated workflows.
-
Configure the following options as needed:
- TemplateName (optional): Specify the name of a Word template to style the output document. If not provided, a blank document will be used.
- TableDesign (optional): Choose a specific table style for the comments table (e.g., "TableGrid").
- The system will prompt you to select a location to save the new document.
-
The comments will be extracted into a table with the following columns:
- Page: The page number where the comment appears.
- Comment Scope: The text or section the comment refers to.
- Comment Text: The content of the comment.
- Author: The name of the person who made the comment.
- Date: The date the comment was added.
- Reference: Additional reference information, if applicable.
- The output document will be saved and opened in Word for review.
Example Configuration
Below is an example of how to configure the command to extract comments:
XML
<Cmd case="BaseExtensions:extract-comments-to-document"
TemplateName="ExtractCommentsTemplate.dotx"
TableDesign="Grid Table 4 - Accent 1" />
- TemplateName: Specifies the "ExtractCommentsTemplate.dotx" template to style the output document.
- TableDesign: Applies the "Grid Table 4 - Accent 1" style to the comments table.
This feature streamlines the process of isolating and sharing comments, making it easier to review and collaborate on feedback.
